Brown, Columbia, and Penn Claim Women's Basketball Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. — The first month of the Ivy League women's basketball season is in the books as multiple Ivies have started the 2024-25 campaign strong. Individually this week, Columbia's Kitty Henderson (Player) earned a weekly honor while Brown's Gia Powell and Penn's Katie Collins split the rookie award.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Kitty Henderson, Columbia (Sr., G - North Curl Curl, Australia)
  • Averaged 22.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 3.0 steals in a 1-1 week for Columbia.
  • Led all players with a career-high 24 points while adding six rebounds, four assists and four steals to lead Columbia to victory in the consolation bracket final of the Battle 4 Atlantis against Ball State.
  • Scored a game-high 20 points with five rebounds, four assists and three steals against Duke.

CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Gia Powell, Brown (Fr., G - Edmonds, Wash.)

  • Averaged 8.5 points per game in a 1-1 week for Brown.
  • Scored 15 points to help lead Penn to a 69-63 win over Colorado State.

CO-ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Katie Collins, Penn (Fr., F - Manasquan, N.J.)

  • Helped lead Penn to a 3-0 week with wins over Immaculata, Chattanooga, and Cal Baptist.
  • Averaged 6.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 1.3 blocks.
  • Had eight rebounds, four assists, and four points in Penn's 114-39 win over Immaculata on Tuesday night.
  • Had seven points, six boards, three assists, and two blocks against 2024 SoCon champion Chattanooga on Friday.
