Harvard's Wang, Princeton's Draper Earn First Volleyball Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – After three teams posted undefeated records following the first weekend of Ivy League volleyball competition, Harvard’s Ashley Wang (Player) and Princeton’s Sydney Draper (Rookie) earned the first weekly awards of the season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ashley Wang, Harvard (Sr., S/H – Bolton, Mass.)
  • Helped lead Harvard to a 3-0 week at the Harvard Invitational, the best start for the Crimson in 22 seasons
  • Contributed all over the floor with 29 kills (2.42/set), 58 assists (4.83/set), 31 digs (2.58/set), nine blocks (0.75/set), and 15 total service aces, giving her All-Tournament team accolades
  • Had two triple-doubles on Saturday as she recorded 12 kills, 25 assists, and 18 digs against New Hampshire. She was then one service ace shy of a quadruple-double in the following match with 10 kills, 16 assists, 12 digs, and nine aces against Hoy Cross. Her two triple doubles are tied for the nation’s lead.
  • Is the only player in the nation this season with nine aces in a single match, and currently leads the nation with her 1.25 aces per set
 
 ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Sydney Draper, Princeton (Fr., S – Mission Kills, Kansas)
  • Helped the Tigers to a 2-0 week at the Bucknell Invitational where she was named to the All-Tournament team
  • Recorded 66 assists across both matches to go along with 21 digs, three blocks and two kills
  • Registered a double-double in both matches, first handing out 37 assists, 11 digs and three blocks against Niagara before posting 29 assists and 10 digs in the Tiger’s win over Bucknell
