Ivy League Announces At Large Academic All-Ivy Teams

PRINCETON, N.J. – A total of 34 Ivy League standouts have earned Academic All-Ivy honors as part of the 2022-23 At-Large Team that recognizes top student-athletes in non-Ivy League sponsored sports.
 
Institutions nominated one student-athlete from each of its non-Ivy League sponsored sports – women’s archery, women’s equestrian, sprint football, women’s gymnastics, women’s polo, men’s polo, women’s lightweight rowing, women’s rugby, coed sailing, women’s skiing, men’s skiing, men’s volleyball, women’s water polo, men’s water polo – to be included on the Academic All-Ivy At-Large team. Student-athletes must be in good academic standing to be eligible for the award.
 
BROWN
Mahdia Parker, women’s rugby (Sr., International and Public Affairs & Africana Studies — Harlem, N.Y.)
Captain … Started the final seven matches of the season … Finished the campaign with five tries, tied for third-most on the team
Abby Contello, women’s gymnastics (Sr., Biology – Baldwinsville, N.Y.)
GEC Scholar Athlete...Served as a team captain…USAG Collegiate First Team All-America honoree on vault, qualifying for the individual finals at USAG Nationals, where she finished t-4th overall with a score of 9.750
Leo Berkman, men’s water polo (Sr., Engineering – Orinda, Calif.)
Finished the season fourth on the team with 39 goals ... Was fifth on the team in assists (21), tied for fourth in steals (23) and fourth in exclusions drawn (21)
Claire Pisani, women’s water polo (Sr., Science, Technology, and Sociology – Redwood City, Calif.)
Led the team with 68 ejections drawn and was second on the team with 46 goals ... Added 19 steals, seven assists and two field blocks
Daphne Maniatis, equestrian (Sr., Physics – Chevy Chase, Md.)
Captain … Brown’s top finisher in the Intermediate Fences at the Ivy Show … Earned win in Limit Flat and second place finish in Limit Fences at Zone 1 Finals
Nora Ong, coed sailing (Sr., Environmental Studies and Public Policy – Saunderstown, R.I.)
2023 ICSA All-American Crew … 2023 NEISA First Team Open Crew and Finalist for NEISA Crew of the Year … 2023 Brown Sailing Most Valuable Sailor … 2022 Brown Sailing Team Co-Captain and SAAC Member

Named to 2023 All-East Team ... Earned silver medal at 2023 in the recurve collegiate women's division at USA Indoor Nationals.

Kevin Jess, sprint football (Jr., Agricultural Sciences & Animal Science – San Luis Obispo, Calif.)
Two-time All-CSFL offensive lineman, including second team in 2022 ... two-time CSFL All-Academic team pick.
Patricio Fraga-Errecart, men’s polo (Sr., Information Science – Potomac, Md.)
Team's second alternate ... had multiple goals in four different matches ... scored a season-best six goals against Tinicum.
Lea Jih Vieira, women’s Polo (Sr., Information Science – Frederick, Md.)
Represented Team USA Polo at the Intercollegiate College Cup ... helped Team USA to a win at the SUPA International Cup ... Cornell's leading scorer ... started every match.
Emily Pecsok, equestrian (Jr., French/Mathematics – Cornwall, Vt.)
Earned a bid to the IHSA National Championships, where she placed third ... collected four first place finishes in the Novice class.
Amy Krueger, chemical engineering (Sr., Chemical Engineering – Cranberry Township, Pa.)
Three-year starter on vault ... qualified as an individual for USAG Collegiate Nationals in 2023 ... two-time GEC Scholar-Athlete.
 
DARTMOUTH
Leah Branstetter, equestrian (Sr., Asian Society, Cultures & Languages – Pittsburgh, Pa.)
NCEA All-Academic First Team, NCEA Academic Honor Roll, Most Outstanding Player at ECAC Championship, earned points at three meets (second on team)
Sophie Ragg, women’s rugby (5th, Biology – Wilsborough Green, England)
Scored four tries as a fifth-year senior in 2022, named to the All-NIRA First XV (All-American) for the first time in her career, three-time NIRA champion (2018, 2021, 2022), 2023 Kenneth Archibald Prize (Dartmouth's top athlete over college career)
Christopher Long, co-ed sailing (Sr., Computer Science – Parker, Colo.)
Competed at the ICSA Team Race National Championship, helping Dartmouth to a fifth-place finish, competed or served as a reserve in both Open ISCA National Championship regattas, competed in seven regattas throughout the season and a featured reserve for 15 regattas
Max Martin, men’s skiing (Jr., Economics – Portsmouth, N.H.)
Skied in all six carnivals and earned points for the team in seven of his 12 races with one podium (third), both parents are members of the Dartmouth Class of 1992 with his father being a three-time All-America skier
Gwen Wattenmaker, women’s skiing (Sr., Computer Science – Olympic Valley, Calif.)
Skied in all six carnivals with five top-10 finishes (best was fourth place) and scored in nine of the 12 races, qualified for NCAAs for second time in her career, hurt during a trial run at NCAAs but skied in visible pain anyway to earn a few points for the team.

Remi Drolet, men’s skiing (Jr., Physics/Mathematics – Rossland, British Columbia)
NCAA individual champion in Men’s 20km Classic…First Team All-American…First NCAA champion in program history…Ranked fifth in the EISA NCAA Nordic Rankings…Won the Men’s 10km Classic race at the Williams Carnival and the Men’s 20km Classic race at the St. Lawrence Carnival.
Emma Ryan, women’s skiing (Sr., History & Science – Duxbury, Mass.)
USCSCA All-Academic Ski Team…senior captain…Ranked 50th in EISA NCAA Alpine rankings.
Eric Hansen, co-ed sailing (Sr., Applied Mathematics – Scarsdale, N.Y.)
Served as team captain 2022-23... Helped lead team to first ICSA Open Team Race National Championship since 2003... Helped lift team to second place finish at the Boston Dinghy Cup... One of four skippers in Crimson 15-0 weekend and first place finish at the Wood Trophy Team Race... Crew member in Crimson second place finish at the St. Mary’s Team Race Inter-Conference
Calliste Skouras, women’s lightweight rowing (Jr., Applied Mathematics – Miami, Fla.)
Rowed in the five-seat in the class of 2004 cup (2nd Place Finish) ... Rowed in the five-seat at the Beanpot and Muri Cup ( 2nd Place Finish) ... Rowed in the five-seat at the Knecht Cup (2nd Place Finish) ... Rowed in the five-seat at the Eastern Sprints ( 4th Place Finish).
Alex Tsotadze, men’s water polo (Sr., Economics – Menlo Park, Calif.)
Captain of the team for the second straight year ... Scored 43 goals, added 19 assists, and 30 knockouts ... Named to the NWPC second team … NWPC All-Tournament first team.
Zoe Banks, women’s water polo (Sr., Psychology – Palo Alto, Calif.)
Captain of the team for the second straight year ... Made 150 saves, added two assists, and 9 steals ... Set career-high with a 19-save shutout over Santa Clara ... 2x CWPA Defensive Player of the Week ... CWPA All-Tournament first-team ... Honorable mention All-America ... Named to the Cutino Award Watch List.
Alex Pipkin, women’s rugby (Sr., Molecular & Cellular Biology – Joppa, Md.)
2019 NIRA 15s Champion... 91 career points from 11 tries and 18 conversions... Earned NIRA-Academic Team honors in 2021... 2022 Ivy 7s Champion... Helped the Crimson reach the national semifinals and Division I Championship final during the 2021, and 2022 7s and 15s seasons... Served as captain for the 2022 7s and 15s seasons... Helped Harvard to a 6-3 record during the notable 2022 season in which it hosted the NIRA Semifinal game against Army (W 41-24).
Ryan Hong, men’s volleyball (Sr., Economics – Molecular & Cellular Biology)
All-EIVA Academic Team in 2023... Played in 15 matches as senior, starting eight times ... Saw action in 42 sets ... Tallied 54 kills with four assists and four service aces ... Recorded 45 digs and 17 total blocks on defense.
