Men's Hoops Standings Tight Entering Back-To-Back Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. – The second half of Ivy League men’s basketball conference play tips off with Yale at Harvard at 5 p.m. ET on ESPNU on Friday. Friday’s slate also includes a battle for first place in the Ivy League standings between Cornell and Princeton at 7 p.m.

Sixteen of the 28 total league games that have been played to date have been decided by single digits, 11 of which have been determined by two or fewer possessions.
 
PLENTY STILL STANDING

The tightness of competition is reflected in the standings. Just two games separate the top seven teams in the standings. Cornell and Princeton enter the weekend tied at 5-2. Dartmouth and Yale are both 4-3 and Brown, Harvard and Penn are each tied at 3-4. The victor of Friday’s Cornell-Princeton game will at least secure a top spot in the standings through the remainder of this weekend.

THE MARCH TO IVY MADNESS
The top four teams in the standings will earn an Ivy Madness berth. The event, which combines the men’s and women’s league tournaments, is set to take place from March 10-12 at Jadwin Gymnasium in Princeton, N.J. FOR THOSE KEEPING SCORE

A total of 21 different Ivies are averaging double-digits in scoring entering this weekend. Penn’s Jordan Dingle is averaging 23.8 points per game which ranks second nationally in Division-I men’s basketball. The Valley Stream, N.Y., native named to Oscar Robertson Trophy watch list by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) in January. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top college men’s basketball player. Cornell ranks atop the league and fifth in the nation in scoring offense with an average of 84.8 points per tilt.
