PRINCETON, N.J. — Multiple Ivies earned wins over major conferences as the opening week of the Ivy League women's basketball season started off with a bang. Individually, Columbia's
Abbey Hsu, who broke the Ivy League all-time record for three-pointers made, was named the Player of the Week while Harvard's
Abigail Wright took home Rookie honors.
On Thursday night, Harvard claimed their second-straight win over in-state rival Boston College before Columbia took home a win over Seton Hall the day after. On Sunday, Brown recorded a win over Georgetown while Princeton picked up a win over an NCAA Tournament team from the previous season, Middle Tennessee.
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abbey Hsu, Columbia (Sr., G - Parkland, Fla.)
- Averaged 22.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.5 steals in two games for the Lions.
- Recorded 23 points and 12 rebounds in the opener against Stony Brook.
- Tallied 21 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals in win vs. Seton Hall.
- Broke the Ivy League's career 3-point record with her 288th against Seton Hall.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Abigail Wright, Harvard (Fr., F - Newton, Mass.)
- Averaged 10.6 points and six rebounds in first three career games.
- Led team in rebounds against No. 14 Maryland. Shooting 54.5% from the field through three games.
- Grabbed 11 offensive rebounds.
