Sydney Stipanovich was a member of three Ivy League championship teams with the Quakers, part of the first class in program history to be so decorated, and her senior year Penn won the inaugural Ivy League Tournament title.
She earned All-Ivy honors all four years she wore the Red and Blue, including unanimous first-team All-Ivy her sophomore and junior seasons. Stipanovich also was the Ivy League Rookie of the Year as a freshman, Ivy League Player of the Year as a junior, and three times she was named the Ivy League’s Defensive Player of the Year.
“Stip” was Ivy Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the year in 2015-16, the first player in league history to pull off the double, and she made history by earning Ivy League Player of the Week four times as a freshman. Sydney also earned first-team All-Philadelphia Big 5 twice and second-team All-Big 5 once and was the 2013-14 Big 5 Rookie of the Year.
She graduated in 2017 with 317 career blocked shots, an Ivy League record (men or women), and she remains third in program history with 118 appearances and 999 rebounds, fourth with 37 double-doubles, and sixth on the program’s all-time scoring list with 1,386 points. Stipanovich blocked nine shots against Harvard on February 1, 2014, still a program and Ivy League record, and she had eight blocks two weeks later against Yale.
