BEIJING -- Day 10 of Ivies in Beijing was highlighted by hockey, cross-country skiing and skeleton.
The Canadian women’s hockey team qualified for the semifinals with an 11-0 quarterfinal win over Sweden. Cornell’s
Brianne Jenner and Princeton’s
Sarah Fillier each recorded a hat trick in the win to put them both at eight goals in the tournament. Princeton’s
Claire Thompson contributed three assists in the win, while Cornell’s
Micah Zandee-Hart assisted two goals. Harvard’s
Emerance Maschmeyer made 11 saves in the shutout over Sweden.
The Swiss women’s hockey team qualified for the semifinals, as well, with a 4-2 win over the Russian Olympic Committee. After a tied second period, the Swiss found their rhythm and scored three goals in the third period to secure the win. Yale’s
Phoebe Staenz scored the first goal of the match in the second period. Harvard’s
Keely Moy contributed an assist in the win.
The Canadian and Swiss women’s hockey teams will face each other in the semifinals on Sunday, Feb. 13 at 11:10 p.m. ET.
The U.S. men’s hockey team beat Canada 4-2 in their first win over the Canadians in 12 years. Yale’s
Kenny Agostino put Team USA up two to secure the win in the third period. Yale’s
Brian O’Neill and Harvard’s
Sean Farrell each contributed assists in the win.
Dartmouth’s
Rosie Brennan finished in 6
th place in the cross-country skiing women’s 4x5km relay.
Princeton’s
Nathan Crumpton finished in 18
th place in the medal round of skeleton for American Samoa.
