Yale Wins Outright Ivy League Title To Cap Football Season

PRINCETON, N.J. – On a day that began with four teams still in the hunt for the 2022 Ivy League title, it was the Yale Bulldogs that walked away with the outright championship. 

The Bulldogs defeated Harvard 19-14 in the 138th playing of The Game in Cambridge. Coupled with their win, Penn defeated Princeton 20-19 on a last-minute touchdown to give Yale the outright title. Columbia also controlled Cornell in New York City while Dartmouth ran past Brown in other league action. 

The 2022 All-Ivy teams will be announced next week. The Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards will be handed out on December 12 at the Bushnell Cup presentation at the New York Athletic Club in New York City. 
 
YALE 19, HARVARD 14
12 p.m. // Boston, Mass. // Harvard Stadium
  • Yale came up with an interception in the last minute to clinch a 19-14 win over rival Harvard and earn the Ivy League football title. 
  • Quarterback Nolan Grooms threw for 144 yards and rushed for another 60 yards in the win. 
  • Scott Woods II had 105 receiving yards and a touchdown for the Crimson. 
  • Yale ends the season 8-2 overall and 6-1 in the Ivy League. Harvard wraps up 2022 at 6-4 and 4-3 in the league. 
 
PENN 20, PRINCETON 19

  • Penn scored a last-minute touchdown to earn a 20-19 victory over rival Princeton on Saturday afternoon. 
  • Aidan Sayin threw for 261 yards and two touchdowns for the Quakers. 
 
COLUMBIA 45, CORNELL 22
1 p.m. // New York, N.Y. // Wien Stadium 
  • Columbia cruised past Cornell 45-22 to finish off a winning season for the Lions. 
  • Caden Bell threw for 231 yards and a touchdown for Columbia. 
  • Columbia finishes the season 6-4 overall and 3-4 in Ivy League play. Cornell wraps up 2022 at 5-5 overall and 2-5 in the conference. 
 
DARTMOUTH 30, BROWN 7
1:30 p.m. // Hanover, N.H. // Memorial Stadium 
  • Dartmouth piled up 422 yards of total offense in a 30-7 win over Brown this afternoon.
  • The Big Green had 293 yards on the ground while holding the Brown offense to just 180 yards total offense. 
  • Dartmouth controlled the time of possession, holding onto the ball for nearly 40 of the 60 minutes of the play.
