Media Day (Tuesday, 10/18 at 11 a.m.)
PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton has been selected as the league favorite in the 2022 Ivy League Women’s Basketball Preseason Media Poll, the league announced on Monday. The poll was voted on by media and the league administrators.
Columbia was picked second followed by Yale and Harvard. Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth and Brown rounded out the preseason projections.
Following Princeton's historic 2021-22 campaign which saw them go undefeated in conference play en route to a Round of 32 appearance, the Tigers garnered 126 points with 15 first-place votes. The points are the most that a school has received since 2018 while the first-place votes are the most since 2016 (Penn).
Columbia was the only other program picked to receive a first-place vote as the Lions received 108 points after winning a program-record 25 wins last season. Fellow 2021-22 Ivy Madness foes Harvard and Yale were picked to once again find themselves fighting for a bid to the NCAA Tournament when March comes around.
Ivy League Women's Basketball Media Day is set for tomorrow beginning at 11 a.m. The day will be hosted by Lance Medow and feature comments from all eight head coaches and two student-athletes from each program. To watch the event on YouTube, click here.
The 2023 Ivy League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments will be held on the campus of Princeton at Jadwin Gymnasium March 10-12. The men’s and women’s tournament champions will each earn automatic berths to the NCAA tournament.
