20+ Point Performances Leads Meyers, van der Maas to Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy hoops opened the first of three signature back-to-back weekends for the season. Princeton and Yale both came off the weekend with big wins to allow the Tiger’s Abby Meyers to claim her second-consecutive Player of the Week, while the Bulldog’s Elles van der Maas collects her first Rookie of the Week nod.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Abby Meyers, Princeton (Sr., G — Potomac, Md.)
  • Sank a career-high 28 points for Princeton in a 65-41 victory over Cornell to give the Tigers their second Ivy win of the season
  • Went 11-17 from the field, knocked down five treys and grabbed seven rebounds
  • Leads the Ivy League and Princeton in scoring with 18.6 points per game
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Elles van der Maas, Yale (So., G — Sydney, Australia)
  • Van der Maas hit a career-high 22 points as Yale overcame a 13-point deficit to defeat Harvard, 80-73
  • Went 7-10 from the field, hit six three-pointers — tied for third-most in a game by an Ivy this season
  • Second top scorer of Dutch team at 2018 U16 European Championships
