Montgomery and Engstrom Earn Weekly Volleyball Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Princeton outside hitter Elena Montgomery was tabbed the Ivy League Volleyball Player of the Week and Dartmouth libero/defensive specialist Emma Engstrom was named the league’s rookie of the week on Monday afternoon.
 
Through two weeks of play, six Ivies boast winning records. The Big Green remain the only unbeaten with record of 6-0, marking its best start since 2010 when Dartmouth opened the season with seven consecutive wins. Collectively, Ivies boast a nonconference mark of 28-21 (.571).
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Elena Montgomery, Princeton (Jr., OH – Franklin Lakes, N.J.)
  • Led the Tigers to three wins from as many matches at the Ellis Rowland Memorial Tournament
  • Combined for 52 kills, 30 digs, and four blocks
  • Averaged 4.33 kills per set and 2.5 digs per set
  • Posted two double-doubles with 13 kills and 10 digs against Cleveland State and 20 kills and 11 digs opposite Colgate
  • Had 19 kills on a .447 hitting percentage along with nine digs in the Tigers' win over Hofstra
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Emma Engstrom, Dartmouth (Fr., L/DS – Danville, Calif.)
  • Named MVP of the Dartmouth Invitational, which the Big Green posted a 3-0 record in to improve to 6-0 on the season
  • Registered a team-leading 65 digs over the weekend
  • Average 5.42 digs per set
  • Also registered 15 assists and a pair of service aces
