Princeton, Brown Pick Up First Men's Basketball Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Strong performances from Princeton’s Jaelin Llewellyn and Brown’s Kino Lilly Jr., in the opening week of the year led to the first Ivy League men’s basketball weekly honors of the season.
 
Ivy League men’s basketball registered 11 wins in the first week of action highlighted by Princeton’s win over South Carolina, Yale’s win over Massachusetts and Dartmouth’s win over Georgetown – it’s first win over a major conference opponent since 1989. Brown pushed No. 19 North Carolina to the brink before falling 94-87.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jaelin Llewellyn, Princeton (Sr., G – Mississauga, Ontario)

  • Averaged 12.3 points per game and 3.7 boards as Princeton went 2-1
  • Scored 16 points on 5-of-9 from the floor while pulling down nine rebounds in win over South Carolina
  • Scored 19 points as Princeton fell to Minnesota in double OT in the finals of the Ashville Classic

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Kino Lilly Jr., Brown (Fr., G – Glenn Dale, Md.)
  • Helped the Bears open the season with a 2-1 record
  • Led Brown with 14.3 points per game and 4 assists per game
  • Netted 22 points and six threes in 75-57 win over CCSU
  • Had 12 points as Brown came close to upsetting No. 19 UNC
