PRINCETON, N.J. – All eight Ivy League head men’s basketball coaches along with two student-athletes met virtually with media as part of the Ivy League Men’s Basketball Media Day
Brown Head Coach Mike Martin
“I’m looking forward seeing where we stack up. I really think it is an aggressive and challenging non-league schedule. It was done with a purpose because this team can handle it. We want to shoot for an Ivy League Championship. We expect to be right there.”
Columbia Head Coach Jim Engles
“The guys have really responded extremely positively. They are really excited, you know we talked about the opportunities. Just the gratefulness that you just never know with basketball, you have to take advantage of the moments you are given. Our guys have been very good with that.”
Cornell Head Coach Brian Earl
“You know, I think from top-to-bottom I think the League is a lot more talented, more athletic. I think it is very different. The guys in the league that we go up against are probably the best coaches in the country. It’s just tough every night to go against those guys, I have the greatest respect for them.”
Dartmouth Head Coach David McLaughlin
“I think that the big thing is just excitement. It is so exciting to be back. It is exciting just to be back in a routine. I think it is awesome to finally build relationships in person. One of our core values as a team is relationships.”
Harvard Head Coach Tommy Amaker
“I’m excited for our team. I am always optimistic and enthusiastic about the beginning of the college basketball season. All of the time, it is because of the guys we have are fortunate enough to coach and to teach and to be around.”
Penn Head Coach Steve Donahue
“You know, the best thing I can say is it feels pretty normal. After all we’ve been through, this is an incredible accomplishment. We go to practice, kids are going to class, there is frustration, there is joy. I think we are all incredibly grateful that we are playing college basketball.”
Princeton Head Coach Mitch Henderson
“ I can’t wait to get going. We missed being around the guys, being together. We are just so fired up to be able to play. There is an appreciation and humility to be able to get on the floor and represent our team. A recalibration of what that means to us here at Princeton.”
Yale Head Coach James Jones
“We are excited just like everyone else. It’s been a long time coming. We are looking forward to the season. I see a path for us being successful which is really good. It’s been really fun to build every day.”
