PRINCETON, N.J. – The reigning Ivy League champions, the Princeton Tigers, were selected as the League favorite in the 2021 Ivy League Women’s Basketball Preseason Media Poll. The poll was voted on by Ivy League sports information directors and select media.
The Tigers garnered 122 points with 12 first-place votes. Penn was not far behind with 108 points and three first place votes. Columbia and Yale were picked to attend the Ivy League Women’s Basketball Tournament with 87 and 82 points, respectively while Harvard, Cornell, Dartmouth and Brown rounded out the rest of the poll.
Last time the Ivies took the court, for the sixth year in a row they finished the season ranked in the top-11 as a conference out of 32 in the NCAA conference RPI as the Ivy League climbed as high as No. 7.
The 2021 Ivy League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments will be held on the campus of Harvard University at Lavietes Pavilion March 11-13. The men’s and women’s tournament champions will each earn automatic berths to the NCAA tournament.
