Steve Leondis, Yale

Steve Leondis enjoyed an outstanding career for the Bulldogs. A three-time All-Ivy selection and was the 1980 Ivy League Rookie of the Year, Leondis finished his career with 1,540 career points to rank fifth in program history. In 102 career games, he averaged 15.1 points, the ninth best career scoring average in school history. His 624 career field goals made are the third most in Yale history. As a senior in 1983, he finished third in the Ivy League in scoring and won the team’s Stan Smith Senior Award.

In 2006, Leondis founded “Hoops on the Hill” a not-for-profit organization based in Long Island, New York, whose mission is to empower and encourage at-risk teenagers and develop their God-given potential. 

Leondis serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Horizon Air Freight, a specialized freight forwarder focused on the marine industry serving leading U.S. and international shipping companies and cruise lines. Founded in 1970 and headquartered in New York, HAF manages and consolidates marine spare parts inventory and arranges for delivery of parts and supplies to customer vessels anywhere in the world.  

Today, he continues his philanthropic work through Project Nyame Nsa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to expressing the love of God to orphans and highly vulnerable children particularly in Ghana and Zambia, Africa. He is very passionate about his work and enjoys working together with his daughter Devon and fellow board members to bring hope to the hopeless.
