Mary Kalich, Yale

The all-time leading scorer in the history of Yale women’s basketball, Mary Kalich ’95 left the Bulldogs as one of the most prolific scorers’ to ever play in New Haven. 
 
Kalich finished her career with 1,663 points, ranking first all-time at Yale and 18th in the Ivy League. She earned All-Ivy honors all four years, taking home first team accolades in 1993 and 1994, second team in 1992 and 1995. In addition, Kalich became the first Yale women’s basketball players to earn Ivy League Rookie of the Year distinction. 
 
She claims five Yale records upon her graduation. In the career record books, she ranks first at Yale in scoring (1,663), first in scoring average (16.0 points per game), first in field goals made and first in field goals attempted. Kalich owns the single-season first year scoring record with 424 total points. 
 
After her playing career at Yale, Kalich had various stints as assistant coaches including working for her former coach Cecelia DeMarco. After being an assistant at Yale, she spent seven years under the guidance of head coach Sue Johnson, a 1986 Yale women’s basketball graduate, at New Hampshire where she was responsible for the development of post players. 
 
Kalich, who graduated in 1995 with a degree in philosophy, was awarded the NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. She works at St. Charles Children's Home in Rochester, N.H.
