Meldrum, Chang Claim Weekly Honors Following Victories in Ivy League Openers

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Cornell, Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale proved victorious in their Ivy League openers this weekend. 7-of-8 Ivies now boast .500-or-better marks.  

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Francesca Meldrum, Dartmouth (So., MB – New York, N.Y.) 
  • Helped Dartmouth to a five-set victory over Harvard to open Ivy League play 
  • Hit .571, accumulating 17.5 points on 14 kills, 4 blocks and 1 service ace
  • Her 17.5 points and 14 kills were both season-highs
  • Carded 2 digs on the weekend 
  • Paces the Big Green with 26 blocks on the season

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Joanna Chang, Cornell (Fr., OH – Cleveland, Ohio)
  • Led Cornell to a 3-0 sweep of Columbia in its Ivy League opener
  • Hit .476, registering 13.5 points on 12 kills, 1 block and 1 service ace
  • Added 7 digs and 2 assists on the weekend
  • Has aided the Big Red to six-straight victories and their first 8-2 start since 2005
  • Ranks second in points (83.0), second in digs (77.0) and third in kills (65.0) for the Big Red on the season
