Harvard's Lin Becomes Seventh Ivy in League History to Win NBA Championship

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Jeremy Lin, a 2010 Harvard graduate, becomes the seventh Ivy League player in conference history to win an NBA Championship as the Toronto Raptors won its first NBA title in franchise history.

Lin, the 12th Ivy League men’s basketball player to reach the NBA Finals and the first to win a title since Penn’s Corky Calhoun helped Portland defeat Philadelphia in 1977, is now the first Asian-American to win an NBA ring.

The Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors, 114-110 in game six of the finals in Oakland. He played briefly at the end of game three when the Raptors were ahead, seeing 51 seconds of floor time.

Lin made his NBA debut in 2010 as the first Asian-American to suit up in the league in 63 years – the first was Wat Misaka in 1947. Over the previous nine seasons in the NBA, Lin has averaged 11.6 points 2.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game.

At Harvard, Lin averaged 12.9 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game across 115 games at Harvard.
