PRINCETON, N.J. -- The awards continue to roll in for Yale junior guard
Miye Oni, as he has been named an honorable mention All-America selection by the Associated Press (AP).
Oni, the 2019 Ivy League Player of the Year, led the Bulldogs to its second Ivy League title in the previous five seasons and the program’s first Tournament Championship with a win over Harvard.
The Northridge, California native averaged 17.1 points per game and 6.3 rebounds per game, while scoring double figures in 27 of the 29 games he appeared in this season, including 30 or more points three times. The junior ranks third in scoring (17.1), assists per game (3.6), free throw percentage (.793) and fifth in three-point field goals made (1.9). Oni, a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection, had five points and five rebounds in
Yale’s first-round NCAA loss to LSU.
The Northridge, California, native concludes his junior campaign 10th all-time in program history with 1,308 points, while becoming the fifth player at Yale to record back-to-back 30-point games.
Oni, also an all-district selection by the
National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC), the
United States Basketball Writers of America (USBWA), and the Ivy League Tournament All-Tournament team,
recently announced he would declare for the 2019 NBA Draft.
Oni becomes the 124th Ivy League men’s basketball player to earn All-America status in League history and the first Yale player to do so since Justin Sears '16, who was a two-time selection in 2015 and 2016.
