PRINCETON, N.J. – A pair of First-Team All-Ivy selections - Cornell senior guard
Matt Morgan and Yale senior guard
Alex Copeland - have been chosen to play in the
2019 Reese’s College All-Star Game at the 2019 Final Four in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Morgan and Copeland will play for the East team, coached by former NBA guard
Nate Robinson and three-time Slam Dunk champion, in the Reese’s All-Star Game. The contest is set for Friday, April 5 at 4:30 p.m. EST at US Bank Stadium and features 20 of the most outstanding senior players in Division I. The game will be available on CBS Sports Network.
Morgan, a unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection, averaged averaged 22.2 points, 4.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 51 percent from the floor and 43 percent from 3-point range. Morgan’s 22.2 points per game ranks 18th in the country. The second leading scorer in Ivy League history with 2,333 points, he finished behind only Princeton's Bill Bradley (2,503), becoming the sixth Ivy League and 574th Division I basketball player to surpass 2,000 career points. Morgan posted arena scoring records at three facilities during the season, at Towson, Dartmouth and Cornell and compiled an 80-game streak of scoring in double figures - an Ivy record and the 12th-longest in NCAA history.
Copeland, the 2019 Ivy League Tournament Most Outstanding Player, helped the Bulldogs to its second Ivy League title in the previous five seasons and the program’s first
Tournament Championship with a win over Harvard. The senior guard was a consistent threat for Yale, starting all 30 games and finishing the year averaging 14.1 points per game to rank sixth among League leaders. He ranked second among his teammates in assists, steals and free throw percentage. Copeland became the 29th player in Yale histroy to score 1,000 career points. In the title game of the Ivy League tournament, Copeland turned in 25 points and seven assists, before registering a team-high 24 points and five rebounds in the Bulldogs'
