Three Ivies Named to HERO Sports All-America Teams

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Three Ivy League football standouts were named to the 2019 HERO Sports FCS All-America teams. Yale senior offensive lineman Dieter Eiselen was tabbed to the All-America second team while senior defensive lineman and special teams standout Spencer Matthaei was selected to the third team. Dartmouth senior cornerback and 2018 Bushnell Cup Recipient Isiah Swann was named also named the third team.
 
Hailing from Stellenbosch, South Africa, Eiselen earned First Team All-Ivy accolades after helping Yale to a 9-1 overall record and his second League championship in three years. Eiselen anchored an offense that ranked sixth in the nation with 38.7 points per game as well as the No. 4 passing offense in the country and No. 4 team in time of possession.
 
A second-team All-Ivy selection, Matthaei served as a lynchpin of the defensive line with 32 tackles and 9.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks, but also starred on special teams. Matthaei ranked second in the nation with three blocked kicks this season.
 
Swann – a two-time All-American - continued to terrorize opposing quarterbacks, picking off four passes to lead the Ivy League while successfully defending 15 throws, tying him for the conference lead. The senior returned two of his interceptions for touchdowns, tying the Dartmouth single-season record while breaking the program's career mark with four pick-sixes. Swann finished the season with 31 tackles, including an assisted one for a loss, to go with his four interceptions for 92 yards and two touchdowns as well as his 11 pass breakups.
