Shohfi, Lalos, Davis & Benn Reap Football Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Dartmouth (8-0, 5-0 Ivy) stands alone atop the Ivy League table following a 27-10 victory over Princeton in a matchup of undefeated teams at Yankee Stadium Saturday. 

The Big Green hold a one-game advantage over both Princeton (7-1, 4-1 Ivy) and Yale (7-1, 4-1 Ivy), whose lone losses are each to Dartmouth, with two weeks remaining on the Ivy League slate. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
JP Shohfi, Yale (Sr., WR – San Marino, Calif.)
  • Helped Yale to a 59-35 victory over Brown to move to 7-1 on the season
  • Caught 10 passes for 166 yards—his third-straight game with 160-or-more receiving yards
  • Set a Bulldog program record with four touchdown receptions 
  • Contributed 24 points to Yale’s highest-scoring output since a 62-29 victory over Towson in 2003
  • Moved into the top 10 on Yale’s single-season and career lists with his seventh touchdown reception of the season and 17th of his career
 
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK 
Niko Lalos, Dartmouth (Sr., DL – Akron, Ohio)
  • Led Dartmouth to a 27-10 win over Princeton in a battle of unbeaten teams
  • Opened the scoring with a 22-yard interception return for his first career touchdown
  • Added a pair of pass breakups to his first quarter interception
  • Registered two tackles, including one for a loss and a sack
  • Chose Dartmouth over preferred walk-on offers from Notre Dame and Ohio State 
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Connor Davis, Dartmouth (So., K – Ocala, Fla.) 
  • Contributed nine points in Dartmouth’s 27-10 victory over Princeton to remain undefeated
  • Went 3-for-3 on PATs and 2-for-3 on field goal attempts, connecting from 33 and 42 yards out
  • Ran his consecutive extra point streak to 40-straight, including a perfect 38-for-38 in 2019
  • Father, Judd Davis, was a walk-on at Florida, earning the Lou Groza Award as college football’s best kicker in 1993

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK 
Brandon Benn, Yale (Fr., DB – Atlanta, Ga.)
  • Registered a career-high 10 tackles, including nine solo, in Yale’s 59-35 win over Brown
  • Forced the first fumble of his collegiate career, 1-of-3 on the day for the Bulldog defense
  • Assisted the Yale defensive front in posting 10 tackles for loss and 8.5 sacks with stout coverage
  • Found a home—and a starting role—in the Yale secondary after spending half of his high school career at the quarterback position
