NEW YORK, N.Y.– Yale junior
Kayley DeLay was crowned Ivy League Women’s Heptagonal Cross Country champion while No. 24 Columbia ran away with the team title.
Columbia totaled 57 team points with second, eighth, 12th, 16th and 19th place finishes individually. Harvard came in second with 89 points with Penn (89 points) and Princeton (90 points) rounding out the top-four. Yale, Cornell, Brown and Dartmouth finished the team standings.
It is the third consecutive women’s team championship for the Lions, the program's seventh title overall, and the longest consecutive title streak in the league since Princeton won five straight from 2006-10. The Lions were consistent from top to bottom, with five Lions finishing inside the top 20 to secure their third straight title. Senior
Katie Wasserman crossed the line in second place, just behind the first-place finisher from Yale, clocking in at 20:49.2 to set the pace for the Lions. Junior
Allie Hays gave Columbia a second, top 10 finisher, coming in at eighth place with a time of 21:19.7.
DeLay turned in a time of 20:45.6 to pace the field closely trailed by Columbia’s Katie Wasserman (20:49.2) and Harvard’s Anna Juul (20:53.8) to round out the top-three.
Seven of the eight schools placed runners among the top-14 to earn All-Ivy status. The Lions led the way with four, while Yale was close behind with three including the individual champion, Andrea Masterson. The top seven individual finishers earn All-Ivy first team and the eighth through 14th-place runners earn second team.
