Three Ivies Remain Unbeaten, League Owns 11-5 Mark Against Non-Conference Foes

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Through three weeks, a trio of Ivies—Dartmouth, Princeton and Yale—remain unbeaten. The League boasts an 11-5 (.688) non-conference record in 2019.

Dartmouth opened its Ivy League campaign with a 28-15 victory over Penn at historic Franklin Field and in front of a national television audience on ESPNU. The fifth win over the past six meetings for the Big Green spoiled the Quakers’ celebration of the 125th anniversary of their storied stadium. Dartmouth’s decorated defense held the nation’s leading rusher—Penn senior running back Karekin Brooks—to 91 yards on the ground, extending its streak to 23-straight games without allowing a 100-yard rusher.

Reigning Ivy League champion No. 23/25 Princeton proved victorious in its Ivy League opener, outlasting Columbia, 21-10. The Tigers picked up their 13th-straight victory behind a two-touchdown effort from junior running back Collin Eaddy

Preseason League favorite Yale doubled up Patriot League foe Fordham, 48-24, in its third-straight victory at the Yale Bowl. Senior quarterback Kurt Rawlings accounted for four touchdowns—two rushing and two passing—in the contest, while throwing for 301 yards.

Harvard also blew out its non-conference opponent Howard, 62-17, in the first-ever meeting between the Crimson and the HBCU. The Undefeated hosted an hourlong pregame show from the historic matchup, featuring none other than Harvard football alumnus Treavor Scales.

Brown fell to Rhode Island, 31-28, in the Governor’s Cup. Junior quarterback EJ Perry had 420 yards and three touchdowns through the air and 92 yards on the ground in the losing effort. On its homecoming weeknd, Cornell became the second-straight Ivy to fall to Patriot League-leading Georgetown, 14-8.
