PRINCETON, N.J. -- Cornell senior guard
Matt Morgan became the program’s all-time leading scorer and moved into fourth place on the Ivy League’s all-time points list to earn Player of the Week. Columbia’s
Maka Ellis was named Rookie of the Week.
Cornell and Yale moved to 1-0 in the standings after opening Ivy League play with wins to join Dartmouth (1-0), while Princeton remains atop the standings with a 2-0 mark after a season sweep of Penn. Four of the five Ivy League games to date have been decided by single digits with three of those games being decided by three points or less.
The League is enjoying one of its most successful basketball campaigns in recent history, with both the men (10th) and women (11th) listed in the top-11 (out of 32) of the national conference rankings. Ivy League basketball is one of only 10 conferences to tout those top-11 rankings in both genders.
League action resumes Friday, January 25 as Brown looks to snap Yale’s seven-game win streak, while Harvard welcomes Dartmouth and Cornell visits Columbia on Saturday, January 26. All three League games will be
available on ESPN+.
