PRINCETON, N.J. -- No. 14/18 Princeton proved victorious in the battle of the unbeatens against No. 20/24 Dartmouth Saturday.
In just the sixth all-time meeting of undefeated Ivy League teams through seven games, defense proved to be the story. Dartmouth’s unit registered a safety, an interception and a fumble recovery—but it would not be enough.
Princeton senior quarterback
John Lovett shouldered the load with a pair of rushing touchdowns, including the go-ahead score that gave Princeton its first—and final—lead of the game with 6:33 to play. With his two-touchdown performance today, Lovett now owns sole possession of second place in the Tiger record books with 39 career rushing touchdowns, trailing only
Keith Elias (49).
Penn went into Schoellkopf Field and came away with a 20-7 victory over Cornell—and the Trustees’ Cup—in front of a national television audience on ESPNU Friday night.
Harvard cruised to a 52-18 win over Columbia behind a single-game program record five touchdown passes from senior quarterback
Tom Stewart on Senior Day at Harvard Stadium.
Freshman quarterback
Griffin O’Connor got the start for Yale—the first of his collegiate career—and threw for 436 yards and four touchdowns in the Bulldogs’ 46-16 win over Brown. Junior wide receivers
Reed Klubnik and
JP Shohfi each had a pair of touchdown receptions on the day.
The Ivy League closed out non-conference play on Oct. 13 with its second-straight 18-6 mark—accumulating an FCS-best .750 non-conference winning percentage in back-to-back seasons.
Princeton (8-0, 5-0 Ivy) is 1-of-3 remaining undefeated teams in the FCS and holds the inside track on this year’s Ivy League title after handing Dartmouth (7-1, 4-1 Ivy) its first loss of the season Saturday.
