PRINCETON, N.J. -- Four teams remain in contention for the 2018 Ivy League volleyball title with four matches to play on the Ivy League schedule. Reigning champion Yale controls its own destiny after a thrilling five-set victory over Princeton on Friday, Oct. 26.
The Bulldogs (15-4, 9-1 Ivy) hold a one-match lead over Princeton (15-6, 8-2 Ivy), a two-match advantage over Cornell (12-8, 7-3 Ivy) and a four-match margin over Harvard (10-9, 5-5 Ivy).
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Samanta Arenas, Cornell (Jr., OH/L – Pembroke Pines, Fla.)
- Propelled the Big Red to a weekend sweep of Dartmouth and Harvard to remain two matches back of League-leading Yale
- Hit .383, tallying 33.5 points on 29 kills, three service aces and three blocks
- Added 19 digs and an assist on the weekend
- Led Cornell to season sweeps of Harvard and Dartmouth for the first time since 2011 and 2012, respectively
- Helped the Big Red to sweeps of both Harvard and Dartmouth in the same season for the first time since 2008
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Samantha Bray, Yale (Fr., MB – Austin, Texas)
- Assisted the Bulldogs to a weekend sweep of Princeton and Penn to earn sole possession of first-place in the Ivy League standings
- Hit .452, accumulating 28.0 points on 24 kills and eight blocks
- Added two digs and an assist on the weekend
- Has posted 10-or-more kills in three-straight matches en route to back-to-back Rookie of the Week nods
