PRINCETON, N.J. -- With the 2018-19 college basketball season just days away, the Ivy League women’s basketball coaches sat down to discuss a number of topics including recruiting, the state of women’s basketball, the League’s partnership with ESPN and the value of the Ivy experience.
Ivy women’s basketball ended the 2017-18 season ranked ninth in the NCAA’s conference RPI, marking the fourth-straight year it finished among the top-10. The League returns seven All-Ivy performers across five teams, including the 2016-17 Rookie of the Year and 2017-18 Player of the Year in Princeton junior
Bella Alarie. The Tigers were selected to claim their second-straight title in the
preseason poll.
The 2018-19 schedule, which begins on Nov. 6, features 13 contests against Power Five opponents and 15 games against 2018 NCAA Tournament teams. Two Ivy teams (Harvard and Penn) will take on defending national champion Notre Dame.
The
Ivy League men’s basketball roundtable was released earlier this week.
The 2019 Ivy League Men’s and Women’s Basketball Tournaments will be held on the campus of Yale University at the John J. Lee Amphitheater at Payne Whitney Gymnasium March 16-17. The League’s unique tournament format has enhanced the importance of the regular season as seven of the eight squads had an opportunity to earn a berth into the four-team tournament with two weeks remaining in the 2017-18 regular season.
