PRINCETON, N.J. -- Ivy League football is off to its best non-conference start since 1970.
LEAGUE NOTES
- #IvyFootball went 4-0 in non-conference play last week to improve to 10-2 overall.
- It marks the League’s best non-conference start since 1970, when the Ivies went 12-0 in non-conference play over the first two weeks of the season.
- The Ivy League’s non-conference winning percentage of .833 leads Division I, just ahead of the SEC’s mark of .829.
- Dartmouth punctuated the 4-0 non-conference weekend with a 27-26 overtime victory over No. 25 Holy Cross, blocking an extra point with three seconds on the clock to send the game to OT.
- Big Green senior Jeremiah Douchee received STATS FCS Special Teams Player of the Week to go along with his Ivy League Special Teams Player of the Week honors.
- Five teams appear in the national rankings this week. Princeton and Yale are receiving votes in both the FCS Coaches and STATS FCS polls, while Dartmouth, Harvard and Penn are receiving votes in the STATS FCS ranking.
- Penn senior wide receiver Justin Watson continues to climb the records book. Watson needs just 71 more receiving yards to become the sixth Ivy to surpass 3,000. Watson’s 219 receptions put him in a tie for seventh all-time with former Yale standout Deon Randall, now a scout for the Denver Broncos.
- The #IvyFootball slate continues this week with two matchups of unbeatens. Penn (2-0) hosts Dartmouth (2-0) on Friday night on NBCSN, followed by Columbia (2-0) at Princeton (2-0) on Saturday on Eleven Sports and the Ivy League Network (ILN).
- In total, three games will be broadcast live this week on ILN, now available on Apple TV, Roku and the ILN app on Apple and Android devices.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Penn sophomore running back
Karekin Brooks (Marietta, Ga.) ran and passed the Quakers to a win at Lehigh, running for 268 yards on 29 carries with three touchdowns, while passing for another TD. He finished the game five yards shy of the Penn single-game record and still managed to rush for the most yards by a Quaker since 1993 and the 11th-most ever in League history.
Brooks is interested in marketing and hopes to one day turn his
grandfather’s BBQ restaurant into a national franchise. He receives his first career Ivy League weekly award.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Penn junior linebacker
Nick Miller (New Market, Md.) was huge for the Quakers defense in their win at Lehigh. In a back-and-forth game, it was his two plays that gave the edge to Penn. His strip sack and fumble recovery on Lehigh's first drive of the game set up Penn's opening score. Late in the second half, his interception stopped a Lehigh drive and the Quakers capitalized, needing just two plays after that to score and take a 35-21 lead. Lehigh never came closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Miller, who is pre-med, takes home his first career Ivy League weekly award.
Miller’s Statistics for the Week

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

He blocked a field goal with 6:09 remaining in the game and Dartmouth up 20-14, and then after Holy Cross tied the game at 20 with three seconds to go, blocked the extra point to send the game to OT, where the Big Green prevailed.
Douchee, Dartmouth’s 2016-17 Class of 1950 Award Winner for Extraordinary Commitment to Community Service, is pre-med and plans to become a pediatrician in low-income, urban areas. He earns his first career Ivy League weekly award.
