PRINCETON, N.J. – A year after earning three bids to the NCAA Tournament, Ivy league men's soccer returns this weekend as Penn was picked first in the preseason poll following a vote by the media.
The Quakers took the first-place spot after receiving 120 points and 10 first-place votes as a total of three teams earned first-place votes. The Quakers earned the top spot after finishing as the regular season champions a year ago.
Both Princeton and Cornell tied for second place with 107 points as the Tigers received five first-place votes and the Big Red collected one first place vote. Princeton, the reigning Ivy League Tournament champions, finished with an overall record of 12-7 last season while Cornell advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
Brown, the fourth seed in the Ivy League Tournament last year, was picked to finish in that spot once again as Dartmouth, Harvard, Yale, and Columbia rounded out the standings.
