Yale Voted Preseason Ivy Football Favorite

PRINCETON, N.J. – Yale narrowly earned the title of preseason favorite in the 2024 Ivy League Football Preseason Media Poll voted on by 16 media members that cover the league.
 
One of three teams to earn a share of the Ivy title last season, the Bulldogs finished with 114 points and six first-place votes. Harvard, which also claimed an Ivy title in 2023, was second with 108 points and led with seven first-place votes.
 
Penn, which led the league in yards per game last season (401.3), was third in the poll with 88 points and two first-place votes.
 
Both Dartmouth and Princeton were tied for fourth in the poll. The Big Green, which also earned a share of the Ivy title, had the top scoring defense in Ivy play allowing an average of 17.9 points. The Tigers, which earned a first-place vote, had the second-best scoring defense.

The poll was rounded out by Brown with 56 points, Cornell with 26 and Brown with 24.
 
Each of the last two seasons, 16 of the 28 league games were decided by a single possession. Last year eight games were determined by a field goal or less.

Six Ivy League football games will air on ESPN linear networks this season. All other Ivy League home football games outside of this six-game package will air on ESPN+, while select games will also be available through a variety of regional sports networks.
