Baker, Leon, Newsome Earn First Baseball Awards of Season

PRINCETON, N.J. – Penn’s Davis Baker (player), Columbia’s Andy Leon (pitcher) and Brown’s Miles Newsome (rookie) earned the first Ivy League baseball weekly honors for the 2024 season.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Davis Baker, Penn SS
  • Batted .471 (8-for-17) with three RBIs, four runs scored, a double, a triple, two walks in the series against Abiliene Christian
  •  Slashed .471/.647/.526 with a 1.173 OPS to lead the team
  • Was 4-for-4 on stolen base attempts
 
PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Andy Leon, Columbia P
  • Tossed five quality innings at No. 4 Florida on Saturday, allowing just one run on two hits
  • He struck out four batters and walked just two
  • Limited the reigning national runners up to a batting average of .118
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Miles Newsome, Brown INF
  • Stood out in his first two collegiate games on Saturday and Sunday at UT Martin, slashing .667/.778/.1.167
  • Reached base in seven out of his nine plate appearances
  • Combined 4-for-6 with a home run, three RBIs, three runs scored and three walks in the two games
