Brown, Yale Win Ivy League Volleyball Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – It’s crunch time for Ivy League volleyball teams, and as spots are claimed for the 2024 Ivy League volleyball tournament, wins become increasingly crucial. Individually, players from Brown and Yale earned weekly volleyball awards including Brown’s Mariia Sidorova (Co-Player) and Julia Kakkis (Rookie) as well as Yale’s Betsy Goodenow (Co-Player).
 
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mariia Sidorova, Brown (Jr., OH – Abakan, Russia)
  • Sidorova led Brown with 4.33 kills per set (39 total) and averaged 2.56 digs per set (23 total) as Brown earned key wins over Harvard and Dartmouth over the weekend.
  • Sidorova started the weekend with 14 kills and 11 digs in a four-set win over Harvard
  • Against Dartmouth, Sidorova hit .345 and had 25 kills and 12 digs for her sixth-straight double-double.
 
CO-PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Betsy Goodenow, Yale (So., RS – Lenexa, Kansas)
  • Averaged 4.33 kills per set, 3.0 digs per set, and one block per set while hitting .460 in two Yale victories.
  • In the win over Dartmouth, she had 12 kills, nine digs, three blocks and an ace and hit .545 without an attack error
  • In the win over Harvard, Goodenow had 14 kills, nine digs, three blocks and hit .393
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Julia Kakkis, Brown (Fr., S – Huntington Beach, Calif.)
  • Finished the weekend averaging 10.44 assists per set and 2.78 digs per set while also recording six kills and five blocks
  • Registered 45 assists and added nine digs over Harvard
  • In a five-set win over Dartmouth, Kakkis had 49 assists and led Brown with 16 digs
