Cornell's Ramsey and Columbia's Wimmer Earn Ivy League Field Hockey Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – Following the second week of Ivy League field hockey action that once again featured some of the top competition in the nation, Cornell’s Caroline Ramsey was named the Ivy League Player of the Week while Columbia’s Katie Wimmer earned Defensive Player of the Week Honors.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Caroline Ramsey, Cornell (Sr., D/M – Morristown, N.J.)
  • Scored five goals in a challenging week that included three preseason NFHCA Top-20 opponents for the Cornell Big Red
  • Registered both goals in Cornell’s come-from-behind win UConn win including the game-tying goal and game-winning goal in the fourth quarter
  • Converted on both penalty corners against No. 7 Syracuse to give the Big Red a 2-0 lead
  • Also had one defensive save
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Katie Wimmer, Columbia (Jr., GK – Windham, N.H.)
  • Went 2-0 in the cage with back-to-back wins over Monmouth and Lafayette
  • Made 18 total saves for a 0.857 save percentage, including a .900 clip against Monmouth
  • Recorded a 2.25 goals against average for the week
  • Made seven saves in the fourth quarter against Lafayette to keep the Leopards from tying the game in a one-goal contest
