PRINCETON, N.J. – Following strong individual performances last week, Yale’s Nolan Grooms (offensive), Brown’s Isaiah Reed (defensive) and Christopher Maron (special teams) and Dartmouth’s Owen Zalc (rookie) earned Ivy League football honors for Week 7.
Entering the weekend, there was a five-team tie atop the league standings. Now, Harvard and Princeton are the two teams at the top – both at 3-1 in league play. Although, just one game separates the Crimson and Tigers from Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Penn and Yale.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Nolan Grooms, Yale QB
- Amassed 323 yards of total offense and a pair of touchdowns in Yale’s 35-7 win over Columbia
- Completed 26-of-32 passes for 234 yards and one touchdown
- Rushed 14 times for 89 yards, including a 13-yard scoring run early in the fourth quarter that put the game out of reach
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Isaiah Reed, Brown DB
- Had two interceptions in Brown’s 30-26 win over Penn
- Made a highlight-reel game-sealing interception in the endzone with one minute remaining
- Also posted five tackles
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Christopher Maron, Brown K
- Perfect 3-for-3 on field goal attempts with makes from 40, 30 and 21 yards
- Six of his eight kickoffs went for touchbacks
- 3-for-3 on PAT attempts
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Owen Zalc, Dartmouth K
- 3-for-4 on field goal attempts, with makes from 37, 47 and 35 yards
- The 47-yarded matched his career long
- All three of his kickoffs were touchbacks
