PRINCETON, N.J. – Ivy League field hockey programs added a pair of nationally ranked wins as Princeton’s
Beth Yeager (Offensive) and Harvard’s
Bronte-May Brough (Defensive) earned weekly awards.
Princeton, ranked No. 7 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll this past week, claimed its third nationally ranked win of the season after coming from behind to down No. 3 Maryland in double overtime, 4-3. Adding the second top-25 win of the week and eighth overall for the Ivy League was Penn who blanked No. 24 Temple in an intra-city battle, 2-0. In addition, No. 14 Harvard had a perfect 3-0 week while Cornell was 2-0.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Beth Yeager, Princeton (So., M – Greenwich, Conn.)
- Tallied seven total points for Princeton, registering at least one point in all three contests
- Recorded two crucial goals against Maryland, including the game-tying goal to force overtime with less than two minutes to go in regulation before firing the game-winning goal in double overtime
- Added one goal against Penn and one assist versus Lafayette
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bronte-May Brough, Harvard (Fr., D – Uttoxeter, England)
- Made an impact on both side of the field during three games for the Crimson who won games against Northeastern, Columbia and Boston
- Led a defense that earned a pair of shutout victories, including a 2-0 win over Northeastern and 3-0 victory over Boston
- Contributed offensively as well, adding two game-winning goals and one assist
