Princeton Claims Fourth Consecutive Outdoor Heps Title

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Princeton men’s track and field team claimed the 2022 Outdoor Ivy Heptagonal championship. This marks the 20th Heps title for the Tigers in program history.
 
Princeton posted 11 event wins in the 22-event championship to finish with 231 points. Harvard placed second with 136 points and Penn rounded out the top three teams with 86 points.
 
Princeton’s Daniel Duncan was the Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Performer. Duncan was part of the men’s 4sx100m relay team which set the meet record with a time of 40.11. That wasn’t his only Heps record of the day. Duncan placed first the 100m with a time of 10.17 to set a Heps and school record. He also took first in the 200m with a time of 20.95.
 
Harvard’s Sam Welsh was voted the Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Most Outstanding Field Performer. Welsh set a meet and school record in the discuss with a heave of 63.26m. The mark is the fifth farthest throw in the NCAA this season.
 
Princeton’s Zorawar Otal, who took second in the discus, set a school record with a throw of 62.77m. His mark is the seventh longest throw in the nation this season.
