Ivy League Weekly Field Hockey Awards Announced

PRINCETON, N.J. – As the field hockey regular season begins to wind down, Penn’s Allison Kuzyk (Offensive) and Harvard’s Ellie Shahbo (Defensive) earned Ivy League weekly awards.
 
No. 7 Princeton highlighted the week as the Tigers earned at least a share of the Ivy League title in addition to clinching league’s automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament with a 2-0 shutout over Brown. No. 15 Harvard also earned a key win, defeating No. 24 Cornell 2-1 in a thrilling overtime matchup. Penn earned a pair of wins, as the Quakers cruised past Columbia, 7-2, before earning a 4-1 non-conference win over Delaware to close out the week.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Allison Kuzyk, Penn (Jr., F – Vancouver, B.C.)
  • Scored a hat trick against Columbia which were the most goals in a game in her career. All three goals occurred in the first half of play.
  • The hat trick was the sixth in Penn history.
  • Earns her second Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honor in three weeks
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ellie Shahbo, Harvard (Sr., GK – Surrey, British Columbia)
  • Registered five saves in the Harvard win over Cornell
  • Made several impressive stops on Cornell corner shots
  • The win marked her 50th win as a Crimson goalkeeper, becoming the first Harvard goalkeeper in program history to reach the milestone
