PRINCETON, N.J. – Following another week of men’s soccer action, Cornell’s
Matthew Goncalves (Player) and Columbia’s
Joao Lima (Rookie) earned Ivy League weekly honors.
No. 22 Cornell, who earned a spot in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 rankings for the first time this season last Tuesday, picked up two exciting road victories as the Big Red stymied No. 7 Syracuse on the road, 2-1 before sneaking past Brown with a 90th-minute goal to claim another 2-1 victory. Cornell extended its win streak to six and improved to 9-1 on the season and 2-0 in Ivy play.
Penn and Yale also won conference matches, with the Quakers (7-1-1 overall) also posting a 2-0 league mark. Both Penn and Yale received votes in last week’s USC poll.
