PRINCETON, N.J. – The Ivy League announced its weekly football award winners, presented by TIAA, following an opening weekend which Ivies posted a collective record of 5-3. This marks the 13th time in the last 16 years that Ivies have earned a winning record on opening weekend.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Cole Smith, Princeton (Sr., QB – Knoxville, Tenn.)
- Had an outstanding first career start, completing 73.2 percent of his passes (30-for-41), adding 412 yards and three touchdowns
- It was only the 14th time in program history that a Tigers' quarterback threw for 400 yards in a game
- All three of his touchdown passes were plays that went over 30 yards, highlighted by a 52-yard connection with Andrei Iosivas
- Led the Tigers to a 32-0 victory on the road over Lehigh
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jalen Mackie, Dartmouth (Sr., LB – Miramar, Fla.)
- Making his first collegiate start, Mackie recorded more tackles (12) than he had in his Big Green career entering the game (10)
- Posted two tackles for a loss and also registered his first career interception
- Both of his tackles for a loss came on key third-and-short situations, forcing the Beacons to punt both times
- His fourth-quarter interception set up what turned out to be the final score of the game
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alex Felkins, Columbia (Jr., K – Tulsa, Okla.)
- Converted a career-high three field goals on three attempts
- Was 4-for-4 on PAT attempts for 13 points in 37-14 win over Marist
- His 13 points rank tied for the second most in Columbia game history for a placekicker
- Also registered four touchbacks on eight kickoffs
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Paxton Scott, Dartmouth (So., WR – Dallas, Texas)
- In his first collegiate game, Paxton Scott became the prime target for Big Green quarterbacks
- Accounted for nearly half of the Big Green’s completions on the afternoon with eight receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown
- His eight catches and 87 yards are the most by a Big Green player making his collegiate debut this millennium
