Teuschl and Laden Secure Ivy League Women's Soccer Weekly Honors as Non-Conference Play Dwindles

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Penn sophomore Lauren Teuschl and Cornell sophomore Ava Laden lead their respective teams in numerous statistical categories and key plays over the weekend to tab Ivy League women’s soccer weekly honors as non-conference play dwindles.
 
As a league, the Ivies improved their overall record to 33-21-8 before entering conference play this weekend, setting the league’s winning percentage at .603. Harvard continues to uphold their undefeated streak as they topped Northeastern and Big 12 member Kansas to help them move up to No. 15 on the Top Drawer Soccer National Rankings. Princeton still sits at No. 22 on the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
 
PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Lauren Teuschl, Penn (So., M, Oakton, Va.)
  • Teuschl scored a goal and an assist in Penn’s 2-0 win over Villanova
  • Directly assisted the OT match-winner in Penn’s victory over Rice
  • Finished with four points on one goal and two assists to help the Quakers finish 2-0-0 on the week
  • Leads Penn in assists and points
  • Has a goal or an assist in sox of Penn’s eight matches to date
 
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Ava Laden, Cornell (So., F, Denver, Colo.)
  • Laden netted three goals in two games for the Big Red
  • Achieved a career high for goals scored in a single game over reigning America East champions Stony Brook
  • Leads the Big Red in goals, assists, points and shots on goal
  • Laden tabs her first Ivy League women’s soccer Rookie of the Week honors
  • Her family has a history of competing in intercollegiate athletics as her father played football at Army West Point, while her uncle and her cousin competed in men’s gymnastics
