Tyler Tabbed to Buck Buchanan Award Watch List

PRINCETON, N.J. – Jeremiah Tyler, a senior linebacker on the Princeton football team, was one of 35 players named to the Buck Buchanan Award watch list, Stats Perform announced Thursday afternoon.

Named for legendary defensive lineman, Buck Buchanan, the award is presented annually to the nation’s top NCAA Division I FCS defensive player. Entering its 27th season, the Buchanan has watched past winners such as Dexter Coakley, Rashean Mathis, Jared Allen, Arthur Moats and Kyle Emanuel move on to NFL careers.

Recently tabbed a preseason third team all-American by Stats Perform, Tyler was a unanimous First Team All-Ivy selection in 2019. That year, he led the league and was 25th in the nation with 14.5 tackles for a loss. His 62 total tackles ranked ninth in the Ivy League. The Detroit product was the runner up for the Bushnell Cup Ivy League Defensive Player of the Year.

Throughout his career, Tyler has accumulated 105 tackles, including 21.5 tackles for a loss. He also garnered Second Team All-Ivy League honors in 2018.

More players can join the watch list during the regular season, and a national media panel will select the winner following it.
