Harvard's Purce '17 Nominated for GMA Inspiration List: Who's Making Black History Right Now

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Former Harvard women’s soccer standout Midge Purce ‘17 has been nominated for the inaugural GMA Inspiration List: Who’s Making Black History Right Now. Good Morning America and ABC News compiled the list after asking influential Black leaders, celebrities, intellectuals, entrepreneurs, and athletes to nominate fellow Black Americans.

Purce is a forward/defender for the National Women’s Soccer League’s Sky Blue FC, as well as the United States Women’s National Team. Her nomination came from fellow USWNT teammate, Crystal Dunn.

Purce is the executive director for a nonprofit focused on advancing opportunities for Black girls in and out of sports—the Black Women’s Player Collective. Additionally, in August 2020, she was named to the Harvard Board of Overseers.

She is joined on the list by 99 fellow Black Americans that are currently making Black history.
