PRINCETON, N.J. -- Eleven Ivies appeared in Week 15 of the 2020 National Football League (NFL) season, with four earning starts for their respective teams.
A pair of Ivy League and Harvard alumni—San Francisco 49ers fullback
Kyle Juszczyk and Seattle Seahawks long snapper
Tyler Ott—were named to the 2021 Pro Bowl. The selection is the fifth for Juszczyk and the first for Ott. There will be no Pro Bowl game this season due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, the players will be celebrated with a virtual Pro Bowl experience within the Madden NFL 21 video game on Jan. 31.
Juszczyk had a 25-yard reception and a pair of runs for four yards in Week 15, while Ott handled his long snapping duties with precision. Ott is part of a franchise-record seven Seahawks named to the 2021 Pro Bowl.
A pair of Harvard educated tight ends—
Cameron Brate of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (4 Receptions, 54 Receiving Yards) and
Anthony Firkser of the Tennessee Titans (1 Reception, 20 Receiving Yards)—also contributed through the air.
Yale alumnus linebacker
Foye Oluokun posted a six-tackle effort with one quarterback hit to surpass the 100-tackle plateau for the first time in his NFL career. He has appeared on every defensive snap for the Falcons in six games this season, including the past three.
Falcons teammate and fellow Yale product tight end
Jaeden Graham added his third tackle of the season on special teams.
Defensive linemen
Niko Lalos out of Dartmouth and
Caruan Reid out of Princeton each recorded a tackle for their respective teams, the Giants and Jaguars.
NFL Players Association president and offensive linemen
JC Tretter out of Cornell once again played every offensive snap for the Cleveland Browns.
Offensive lineman
Cole Toner (Harvard, Los Angeles Chargers) and tight end
Stephen Carlson (Princeton, Cleveland Browns) also appeared in Week 15.
Twenty-one Ivies earned NFL roster spots entering the 2020 season, with 15 on 53-man active rosters, four on 16-man practice squads and three on injured reserve during Week 15.
Twenty-six Ivies appeared on NFL rosters during the 2019 season, headlined by five-time Pro Bowl fullback Juszczyk and 2019 Super Bowl champion tight end
John Lovett.
