Two Ivy Alumnae to Compete in Women's Champions League

PRINCETON, N.J. -- This week, the first round of the Women’s Champions League kicks off and includes two Ivy League Women’s Soccer alumnae competing for the Lithuanian professional club Gintra Universitetas—a Champions League regular who has won every A Lyga title since 2005.

The oppertunity to play in the Women’s Champions League is considered to be a top honor. Only the best of the European professional clubs from each country achieve the chance to contend.

Abby Carchio, Brown ’20, will continue her rookie campaign with Gintra. To date, Carchio has appeared in 10 matches making six starts. Carchio was captain of Brown’s Ivy League Championship team in 2019. She finished her time at Brown ranked 15th all-time in career points, 16th in career goals, eighth in career assists and named All-Ivy First team three times. In addition, she was named First-Team All-New England, New England Midfielder of the Year, Academic All-Ivy and a Senior CLASS Award candidate.

Alika Keene, Harvard ’16, also will continue her 2020 campaign with Gintra. Thus far Keene has played in 20 competitions and found herself in the starting lineup 14 times. While at Harvard, she was part of a sturdy defensive unit. Her senior year the unit tallied seven shutouts and her sophomore year Harvard’s backline allowed 0.81 goals per game. She totaled five assists as a defender in her career. In addition, Keen was a member of the U-20 Jamaican team and was a National Achievement Scholar.

Gintra Universitetas will play their first qualifying round match on November 4th against Slovan Bratislava at Gintra’s home— Savivaldybe Stadium (Siauliai Central Stadium) in Siauliana, Lithuania.
