Perry, Jones, Roussos & Felkins Claim Football Weekly Accolades

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Ivy League opened the 2019 campaign with a 6-2 mark, following back-to-back seasons in which it led the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) with a .750 non-conference winning percentage. 

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
EJ Perry, Brown (Jr., QB – Andover, Mass.) 
  • Accounted for 410 yards of total offense and five touchdowns in Brown’s 35-30 season-opening road win over Bryant
  • Threw for 183 yards and three touchdowns on 21-for-32 passing 
  • Rushed for 227 yards—the most ever for a Brown quarterback—and two touchdowns
  • Posted a 94-yard touchdown run, the second-longest rushing play in program history
  • A Boston College transfer, is the nephew of first-year Brown head coach James Perry
     
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
David Jones, Cornell (Sr., DB – Sugar Land, Texas) 
  • Tallied his eighth career interception in Cornell’s 21-7 win at Marist 
  • Recorded four passes defended, three pass breakups, five tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss 
  • Led Cornell to a pair of goal-line stands, keeping the Red Foxes out of the end zone on five plays inside the 1-yard line
  • Added 64 return yards—52 punt return yards and 12 kick return yards 
  • Completed an internship at the NBA headquarters in New York City in 2017
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mike Roussos, Columbia (So., WR – New Port Richey, Fla.)  
  • Totaled 149 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in Columbia’s 31-14 win at Saint Francis
  • Scored a 56-yard punt return touchdown, becoming the first Lion to score a punt return touchdown in back-to-back games since Austin Knowlin in 2008
  • Accumulated 77 kick return yards, 66 punt return yards, five receiving yards and one rushing yard
  • Dubbed a Preseason Third Team All-American punt returner by Phil Steele
  • Named a Second Team Freshman All-American punt returner by Phil Steele in 2018

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Alex Felkins, Columbia (Fr., K/P – Tulsa, Okla.) 
  • Converted a 50-yard field goal, the third-longest in program history
  • Went 4-for-4 on point-after attempts 
  • Averaged 64.8 yards per kickoff and added a tackle 
  • Did not kick his first football until eighth grade
  • Trilingual in English, Russian and Ukrainian
