2019 Ivy League Football Media Day Attendees Announced

BRISTOL, Conn. -- The 2019 Ivy League Football Media Day will take place on Thursday, August 15, at ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn., as a special session in conjunction with the yearlong celebration of college football’s 150th anniversary (CFB150).

Sixteen student-athletes, representing the eight Ivy League institutions, will meet with the media at the ceremonial kickoff to the 2019 football season.

The group has combined for 17 All-Ivy nods (6 First Team, 6 Second Team, 5 Honorable Mention) and includes a returning Asa S. Bushnell Cup recipient, consensus All-American and Buck Buchanan Award finalist in Dartmouth senior defensive back Isiah Swann. Swann led the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) with nine interceptions during his junior campaign.

Penn senior defensive back Sam Phillipi, a bone marrow donor who was contacted following Penn football’s Be the Match registration drive, will also make the trip to Bristol. Phillipi provided a life-saving bone marrow transplant on Dec. 6, 2016, following his Second Team All-Ivy sophomore season.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. and will include discussions of ESPN and the Ivy League’s respective plans surrounding CFB150 and ESPN+, the subscription platform that is home to more than 1,100 Ivy League events annually, in addition to media availability from the aforementioned student-athletes and the League’s head coaches.

Media registration is now open, with an RSVP deadline of August 1.

The Ivy League’s preseason media poll will be announced a week prior to the 2019 Ivy League Football Media Day, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 8.

The Ivy League is coming off a 2018 season highlighted by Princeton’s unbeaten campaign—the 13th in League history—en route to its first outright League crown since 1995. The League also led the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in non-conference winning percentage (.750) and NFL representation (24 players) for the second-straight season.
