OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – Yale senior attack
Jack Tigh is among the 10 finalists for the 2019 Senior Class Award, which recognizes student-athletes who excel both on and off the field. The Ivy League has produced at least one finalist in each of the award’s 12 years of existence, including six Senior Class Award recipients.
An acronym for
Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Tigh has been a consistent offensive force, registering a point in each of the Bulldogs’ seven games to help Yale to a 6-1 start and a 2-0 mark in the Ivy League.
The Garden City, N.Y., native was a 2018 first-team All-Ivy League and All-New England midfielder selection and scored three goals in the 2018 NCAA Championship title game against Duke to earn All-Tournament Team honors. Tigh was tabbed USILA third-team All-America.
Tigh, an economics major, has volunteered for numerous outreach activities including the Vs. Cancer Foundation, Need for Speed and the Best Buddies Program.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character and competition. 10 names will be placed on the official ballot. Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character and competition.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in conjunction with the 2019 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship in May.
