PRINCETON, N.J. – After career performances in their season-debuts, Princeton senior
Emmet Cordrey was named Ivy League Player of the Week, while Harvard freshman
Austin Madronic earned Rookie of the Week accolades.
Three Ivies – No. 4 Cornell, No. 6 Yale and No. 20 Princeton - are ranked in the latest Inside Lacrosse Poll. The Ivy League is 1-of-5 conferences with at least three teams ranked in the top-20. Princeton and Brown registered season-opening wins, while Penn pushed No. 3 Maryland to overtime before falling 13-12 to highlight opening weekend action. No. 4 Cornell kicks off its season on Friday, Feb. 22 with a trip to nearby Hobart.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Emmet Cordrey, Princeton (Sr., A Summit, N.J.)
- Made his first career start as No. 20 Princeton opened 2019 with a 23-7 win over Monmouth, the MAAC Preseason favorite
- Scored a career high six goals on seven shots
- Added two assists for a career-high eight points
- Doubled his previous career high and matched his entire junior season point total
- Father Peter Cordrey played lacrosse at Princeton from 1978-1982 and is one of the most decorated goalies in program history.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Austin Madronic, Harvard (Fr., A – Victoria, British Columbia)
- Registered three goals in collegiate debut as Harvard opened the 2019 season at No. 12/14 North Carolina
- Chipped in three assists to finish the day with six points and one groundball
- His six points were the most by a Harvard freshman since All-Ivy selection Devin Dwyer has six in 2013 at Quinnipiac
- His six points were the most by a Harvard freshman in a season-opening game in the last decade
- Played Junior A Box with the Victoria Shamrocks
