No. 8 Princeton Punches Ticket to NCAA Tournament

, N.J. – No. 8 Princeton, the Ivy League champions, will take on No. 12 Syracuse in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the University of Connecticut’s campus on Friday, Nov. 15.
 
Connecticut, the No. 2 overall seed and host, will take on the winner of Fairfield and American in the opening round. The winners of each first round game will face off on Sunday, Nov. 17 with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

Princeton is making its 25th NCAA tournament appearance after winning its 26th League title in program history on Saturday with a 3-1 win at Penn. The Tigers have made the NCAA quarterfinals 15 times, the national semifinals seven time and won the National Championship in 2012.
 
Princeton carries a 10-game win streak into the postseason and are currently 13-4 overall, boasting six victories over ranked opponents. Princeton’s offense ranks fourth in the nation averaging 3.29 goals per game. Clara Roth paces the team in goals with 38 points on 14 goals and 10 assists, while freshman Sammy Popper has contributed 26 points on 10 goals and six assists.
 
The 2019 Division I Field Hockey championship will take place at Kentner Stadium at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina from November 22 to 24, 2019.
